What Is the AILET Exam?

The All India Law Entrance Test, better known as AILET, is the gateway to one of India's most respected law schools — National Law University (NLU), Delhi. Unlike most national law entrance exams, AILET is conducted exclusively for admissions to NLU Delhi, making it one of the most competitive and sought-after law entrance tests in the country.

Every year, thousands of aspiring lawyers compete for roughly 123 undergraduate seats. The exam tests your command of English, logical reasoning, and general awareness — no prior legal knowledge required.

Why AILET Matters?

NLU Delhi is consistently ranked among the top three law schools in India. With only 123 UG seats available each year, the selection rate is extremely low — making thorough preparation non-negotiable.

Quick Preparation Tips

  • Read a national newspaper every day — it covers current affairs and sharpens your English at the same time

  • Practice logical reasoning puzzles daily — this section carries the most weight (70 questions)

  • Take timed mock tests — 150 questions in 120 minutes means you have under a minute per question

  • Be careful with negative marking — a wrong answer costs you 0.25 marks, so avoid random guessing

  • Start at least 6 months early — consistent, daily practice beats last-minute cramming every time
